My first love was cars.

This police car is loosely based off of a police car I drew back on "Darkminds" for Dreamwave when i worked there on the second volume. Circa 1998.

This background and context of this pic is that it belongs to a story I am writing. I have been very careful about setting the style of the characters artwise, but so far as the cars go i knew what I wanted to see.

This started out as a sketch and then i traced it with a 1 - 2 pi brush in Corel Photopaint 8. My goal was to make something nice and clean like that vector art i had seen except i didnt want to trace off a photo and didn't want to use a photo for lighting reference.

This one took time, and I also took my time to because I was enjoying it.

All this is all imagination, the car doesn't exist, and the lighting is how I think it would be.

Those palms arent just photo grabs either, I drew out one leaf, and then warped it and reused it many times to get the effect I wanted. After that i drew in the trunk which wasn't hard at all.

As for the paint of the police car, it is somewhat similar to the paint job the police cruisers have in Japan, except where I have the green they have black.

In the story I have designed the streets to have coloured pavement, so the yellow there isn't sand or anything like that, it means it is only for emergency stops. Green pavement incidently is for parking.

A slight power slide hints that this patrol car has some "balls" as the saying goes.

Twin Turbo Diesel 4.0L 8 Cyl.

(For those who don't get why the police on the yellow bumber is in reverse, it is that way so that when you see it in your rearview mirror, the text will read properly.)

Very nice!

Speaking of balls, and considering we're on the subject of the po-po, apparently one of the best (and scariest) police forces on the planet are that of the Moscow security forces. You should look up a few of their police chases on youtube to get what I mean!
