This is page 6 from issue 1 of the book i am working on, Chun Li Legends. In this you will see my process abreviated into 3 steps, rough, BW and colour.

Rough: I layout the page according to the script that i have received. i do this very small and donot spend tons of time at all on it. Layouts are supposed to be concepts only and very rough. There is no need at all for something like this to take more than a few minutes to do. I layed out the entire book, 22 pages in an afternoon. Pencil on paper. 20cm x 14 cm.

BW: So this is what the page looks like after having done the pencils and inking it. I have a model of that Porsche on my desk to draw from, it is not a traced off photo. i simply take the car and look at it fomrthe angle i want, my left arm does get tired from holding the car though! The Nissan Versa i did have to ref from pictures, but all of it is hand drawn. Pencil and ink on paper. 43cm x 28cm. 3 - 4 hours

Colour: I start with the BGs first and then colour the characters. All the palettes are set, and I add textures as is needed. I add the final blurs and highlights right at the end with a special treatment on the lines. All Corel Photopaint 8. 4 - 5 hours.

Story takes place in HK, thats why the police car is a Versa and the beige bus in the last panels. Chun Li's partner is Po Lin.
