Outstanding!, this is very impresive!, i admire your way of work, master Omar. just one question. i've seen that your backgrounds are in pencil, and the texture looks clean and very clear. In what resolution do you scan your works?, I Would be pleasured if you answer that question.

Anyway, as always, an awesome work by your hand!

I am the same way...no matter how digital and no matter how much photshop illustrator or Flash is implemented in the process i always start with a trusty good ol pencil and paper.

What-a-preserve the craft ;)

Its great to hold it in your hand the way you drew it the first time too, and keep digital copies just in case...
thx for the share

Nice to see the whole process. :)
I want you to know that you draw Ibuki really REALLY good, in my opinion. She's very hot! But... of course, as an artist, I can understand the feeling of insatisfaction. Sometimes the difference between a sketch and a final result can be like from a winner to zero, if I may say so.
I don't know if this will help but here's what you can do to capture her spirit(if you haven't done it already).

1/ Write on a piece of paper her character:
feisty, confident but a little shy, or whatever - you know best.
2/ Then draw her face and analyze her facial elements. What takes away the desired effect and WHY.
Tip: Since you've managed to draw her the way you want, take those old drawings for reference and analyze them too.

P.S. I feel like I'm telling you something you've realized long before me but still, I want to help.
Good luck! ;)

I've honestly learned so much just from reading this breakdown. I'm always impressed with the way you lay out your pages, but this insight into your actual process has really helped me get a few things straight in my head when it comes to creating comic pages - somethign that I'm rather weak on, admittedly.
I, personally, would absolutely love to see the layered file to get my head around it, but as you say, it's all about the level of demand :)
Either way, I'm faving this for future reference!!

Thanks for the tutorial, the steps you take to get to the finished product are very useful.

One question though, when you scan in the inked page what scan type do you use? Black and white or greyscale. Just that the pen clarity could (in my opinion) only be kept with a high res black and white scan, thus I'm unsure how you kept the softness of the pencil.

I'd be delighted to see the layered file.

Your artwork always inspires me, and I've been doing a lot of studying lately to try to get better at coloring.

I really like the fact that you draw by hand and refuse to draw on a computer. I don't refuse to, I just suck at it. So I stick to pencil and paper. I always feel like I'm alone in this world. XD

Inking the characters and leaving the backgrounds in pencil is genious!
