Nurse Alexi by Omar-Dogan Nurse Alexi by Omar-Dogan
Well, one thing is for sure; Whatever is in the syringe will make sure you don't live long enough to complain of malpractice.

This is a remake of a piece from my upcoming girl book and will also be included in the book as an extra art piece. Another interesting feature about this piece is that this is the first piece of art I did entirely on the comp.

Normally I am dead set against doing anything completely digitally. This cemented my viewpoint mainly because of the amount of tom-foolery that you can get away with and abuse of the CTRL + Z.

No doubt some elements are easier to tackle here, but there is no way that any digital piece can come close to the look and feel of an original piece of art that you hold in your hands. For that reason this will be my last digitally drawn piece.

I feel like people who still draw on paper are preserving an art soon to be lost. Nonetheless, I was pretty happy how this turned out, so enjoy it!

This is just awesome. It reminds me a little of Harley Quinn. That expression on her face is so confusing, is she scared, is she stifling a laugh is she angry...

Cool and creepy. Great work!

Reminds me of harley quinn in arkham asylum. Also you mentioned digital drawing here, I've never been huge on going from scratch with a tablet but that may be due to my ownership of a very small tablet, there's also something missing about not seeing your art on the page as you draw it , affecting it with directly physical means. All that said, I've never used a cintiq.

wow tht is some impressive rendering. and yes i agree with th opinion of digital not being the same thing as a peice you can hold in your hands.

it's funny because feeling such resent for "an art soon to be lost" would make a reader think that you are all for preserving it; but yet your recent commission opening only consist of one option of traditional media.

this might be due to various situations that i probably dont know about but....

It's still funny

Sweet final result but I agree with the idea of drawing on paper, I feel like that is an essential talent for illustrators. Though I don't refrain from doing complete digital pieces myself, I am never fully satisfied with them. However... there are technologies that I haven't tried that might change my mind, such as drawing directly onto the screen. :) Anyway, awesome work as usual, I really like the hands

Nice piece of art! I love it! The evil smile and crooked eyebrows are perfection. As beautiful as she is, I certainly don't want to be treated by her! XD

Still I don't know why you give digital art get such a bad reputation. I don't think it's fair to judge a persons art simply by what tools they use to make it, or if you can feel it and see it after the fact.
Besides, I have seen original pieces of art that hang in museums that are breathtaking and heartrendering, even though I am in no way allowed to feel them in my hands. And those artists that do live performances using lights and sounds, which are completely digital, will never have proof of their art in a permanent form, but can equally be considered hardworking artists in my opinion. I am kind of sad that you don't feel the same way.

You've missed the whole point.

I'm not talking about interpretive dance and such. I'm saying you can't compare a piece of art drawn by hand to that of one drawn on a cintiq. The two can never be the same.
zfr0016 Featured By Owner Nov 1, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Well that is not what I was trying to convey. Sorry about the misunderstanding. What I meant to say is, yes it is true that digital and traditional art aren't one and the same, but I don't think that makes one of them better than the other, or that digital art is a far cry from what can be achieved using a pencil, or that tablets will soon eliminate all paper and pencils in the future thus making it a lost art. I am sure that there were those, way back when, who felt that when others started using lead to draw, that they were neglecting traditional rock drawings, and that it would soon become a lost art. But I have to admit that I still draw on rocks when I am at the lake. And to be honest, I have seen some digital art that far exceeds that of traditional, and that the same goes vice versa, with the traditional art kicking digital tail. I think that both can be equally beautiful as the other, and that traditional art will forever remain regardless of how many people use computers, but if you don't feel that way, I say then by all means stick with traditional. I am sorry if I have offended you in any way by posting my previous comment. I will refrain from doing so in the future.
Omar-Dogan Featured By Owner Nov 1, 2011  Professional General Artist
Not at all, you didn't offend .When I put a comment like that out there I am intending to get heat or praise for it.

It's just if all of us were to try and emulate what we do digitally on paper, i think we would all have to admit that thought the computer is a tool, it does have the potential to wield to very overwhelming abuses of power.

I remember in the old second guessing colouring somthing because if you have a go at it with markers, you only get one chance. I just think that there is a skill in that and a gamble that also creates intersting results.

But again to each their own and digital s a must in this industry that goes without saying.

So true! I enjoyed this little artistic discussion of differing views. It's not often that you can have an engaging and neutral conversation between two different views without it getting out of control. It's nice to get a fresh perspective from another artist so that I can better understand where others are coming from. Thank you. And as a side note, digital or traditional, your art is something that I will definitely be watching, ever more so now.

There is all the stuff about traditional vs digital. I just think people need to remember traditional for what it is and what you can create with it that you can't do with a computer. I feel that people have a tendency to give digital work more attention because it is usually more vibrant and looks more 'finished' because it is so easy to go back and remove the mistakes and change the scale of things that is not possible to do in traditional work. There will always be a battle between them because of the age of technology but traditional work will always be special because it has been around for so long.
Zantetsuken15 Featured By Owner Oct 31, 2011  Student General Artist
whether we can still do it on paper or not we can still use other ways as long we can still preserve it.

still omar seeing your work is always an opener for me. excellent work

I actually prefer being able to see your pencil lines in the style you use. This feels a bit too sterile, or lack-texture.

Not that it's bad, it just feels like it's missing that little something extra your lines give it.
ArtofApple Featured By Owner Oct 31, 2011  Student General Artist
Pencil lines give a piece energy. Some kind of natural movement. I fully agree with you on this man. I still love the feel of paper on pencil or any other medium, I have a tablet that I rarely use...

dramatic words, I understand how you feel. I still think there are things you can get away w/ digitally easier in terms of subject matter, but there's just so much you can do by hand a monitor will never be able to convey.

I'd hate to see this be your last digitally drawn piece, but she looks like a beautiful woman regardless. Keep up the gr8 work as always.

Isn't art about the end result anyway, though? I think people get all hung up on tradish vs digital these days and are missing the end result/point to it all.

Of course, there's nothing like a tangible traditional piece. But there's also nothing like a digital piece either with the things it's capable of. It's hard work nonetheless, no matter which way you take it.

In any case, loving the rendering on this! I'm lovin the look of "no lines, straight painting" in this. :D
