Just curious. What do you like about it compared to Photoshop, Painter and Open Canvas? Is it certain features or is it just that it's a great tool for the price?

The reason why i use Corel is because it was the first program i learned on. When i was introduced to Adobe i found it lacked in enough ways for me not to use it. You cannot customize keys , at least at that time, and there are other things i didnt like about it either.
I try to make it a policy not to rely on the plug ins and other fancy stuff they throw in to suck people into buying their newer versoins of the program. For me I got the reassurance of this mentality when i spoke with Shinkiro from Capcom in San Diego, and he told me he still used a really old version of photoshop. I use the same corel i learned on, the program is from 1997!
If you can create the effect you are looking for then there is no need for a new program. older programs use less memory too, but that is just a theory, i'm not a comp wiz.
If there is a program i want to learn next it is painter, which is also made by Corel.
Thanks for taking the time to put together such a nicely detailed answer Omar. I appreciate it.
I've always strive to not rely on plugins either. The built in ones and especially third party plugins for any software application. I do this for the same reasons as you and because you never know if you could be at a new job and the employer may not have that particular plugin and they may not purchase it. Then the dependence on a plugin can hurt us.
Its not what tool that you use, but how you use it. That's really cool Omar. I only asked because I like to know what other artists such as yourself like to use as their tools and techniques because it helps us grow as artists and it is really interesting. We are here to also learn from each other and I'm glad that you were kind enough to make the effort.
Yes, Painter is great. It's been getting better and better with each version release. I hope that Corel can give it even faster performance.
Anyways, have a wonderful Holiday and may God Bless you now and into the New Year.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

So Photopaint is your main tool for coloring?
Hmm...interesting. May I ask why?
