Almost 4oo oo Hits!</U>

Thanks for visiting, and thanks for your support for over a year!

It is cold , but overall the month has been above normal. It is hard to believe a week or so ago it was 16°c and now it is -7°c. So far the lowest we have gone this year is -15°c at the airport, but on my terrace since it is downtown and surrounded by buildings and only -11°c.

If you're in CHicago, it went down to -20°c / -5°F ! thats not including the windchill. Even some people in Florida weren't spared this latest blast of cold air courtesy of the Canadian Arctic (You're welcome). Atlanta got snow twice in one week.

Only another month and a half, and then winter starts dissappearing.

ANother intersting point I foudn out if this micro chip they want to insert into peoples bodies, so that doctors or whoever can see what you medical info is. Sounds a little too intimate for me, with GPS they can track you wherever you go.

200 people already have it installed in the states, its the similar thing they do with dogs so that they can be recovered if they go missing.

I don't know about you, but I would defenitely not get it. Soon, they will try to get rid of cash and get you to use the card for everything. It is really odd to see people pay cash for big things, it almost looks suspicious !  I bough a replacement PS2 sicne i burnt my other one out, and i paid with cash. It was a really different feeling, like it actually felt like i was paying, not 'swipe' 'beep beep beebeep' and now it is mine.

I'm old fashioned i guess!

Asalaamalaikum = Peace be upon you!

I'm really old fashioned too... I hate the idea of carrying pieces of computers inside... And money is becoming an abstract thing, that's something that surprises me...
Anyway, I like your post x)

hey man, how are you doing? feeling better these days? i feel the same way. cash is always better in my mind. if you say you only want to spend 200 and you have that in cash, then your forced to only spend that. with the card, you swipe, but you have to remember the amounts from all transactions, and then you say, well i'm only going over what i want just a bit. well, that little bit soon adds up fast.
oh, i saw your bit on the space channel about robotech, very cool. i thought jim was much more sober looking then he usually is. lol.

the microchip is used mainly in altimers patients who have no idea where they are or how they got there, to make sure they don't run off and die of exposure. of course if someone was to put it in there kid......scary to think about

There is not way I would get that thing put in me. The doctors and their ilk can do their jobs and look it up them selves damn it! For all people would know, they went ahead and put a gps locater in it so they can monitor you. Of coerce, perhaps I am being paranoyed. Maybe people are really just too lazy to look information up on the computer.

If you pay in cash then you will end up spending far less. I think it is a better way to go.

A lot of stuff we saw in movies as kids are starting to actually happen. Clones, chips, newer technology...etc. Pretty soon they will be able to make telepods so we can make it from point A to point B in seconds.

microchip in a body? They should do that to ex-crime doers, not us innocent beings:XD:. You don't use cc? thats actually a brilliant idea, paying things with cash makes one feel more budget-conscious...:P

Man! It's pretty cold here in Orange County, California too! I think it's like 75 degrees or something! I had to put on a light sweater when I went outside today! heheheheh I think it might even sprinkle a little later tonight! heheheh j/k
I think the chip is a good idea if you're an adventurer or someone who goes to unfriendly territory.

I used to work in a hospital ER, and I know what kind of a pain it is when they bring someone in as a Doe, where they're not talking, there's no family with them, and nobody knows about any allergies or anything like that, so it would have been nice to just scan a chip, but I don't like the idea of people being able to find you either, or the idea of somebody else's records being uploaded on accident.

Chicago is freezing like hell >_<

Good thing I have today off because of MLK day =)

I'm a little bit torn about the chip. For one, I'm for it just because everyday lots of people go missing (kids, adults anyone), plus it's easier to keep track of suspects and make the world safer.

As far as the privacy thing goes, as long as NOT everyone can access to the info (naming my parents, friends etc) and only for the government, I'm ok. Why? Because if you didn't do anything wrong, there's no reason to get paranoid for a few governments to keep track of your safety.

That's just my 2 cents though ^^

We don't have MLK day here in Canadastan, BUT we have just recieved a new holiday "Flag Day" Feb 15th. It was the first day back in 1965 when the Canadian flag flew.

Extra holidays are always good.

As far as the chip goes, yeah If you arent doing anything bad, who cares, but would you be comfortable with someone constantly peeping through your windows, I mean face right up to the glass with hands cupped around his eyes?

Even some places now they ask for zip codes when you buy stuff, " Yes please send me junk mail, here i will even give you my address" At some places they make you feel as though they might even turn down the transaction if you don't give it to them!

haha, that's true, but not all companies have MLK day for some reason, lol

As for the chip, realistically speaking, it's hard for hire governments to monitor the millions and millions of people everyday. It's just computers tracking people, but not people tracking people. As long as the GPS info is not available to the public, then I'm cool of it. I heard about a GPS phone that automatically tracks which friend is near you and what not. If that's the case, then I'm against it.

And I think that whole zip code thing was nonsense (as well as asking for phone numbers) They claim it's for marketing purposes, which zip codes are ok I guess. But phone numbers are just too much and I flat out don't tell them =)

using hypothetical money is an odd concept, no matter how many times I see that card go through, and the clerk smile and hand me my goods.

I don't know why they'd want to put a chip in you, feel a bit too BIG BROTHER to me... everyone hop aboard the dystopia train, next stop, 1984 D:

Yeah once they dissolved the link between preciious metals and currency , they can do what they please. Topple currencies, build currencies, or simply just make more currency.

A legal tender note used to maen that there was a cetrtain amount of gold behind the bill beit a 20 of 5'er etc, now the value is a speculative thing it seems.

If everyone, and it wouldnt happen, went to cash out all their savings stocks etc, there would not be enough currency for it, because they dont issue money for credit loans etc. You buy a car with a line of credit for 15 000 , that money actually might not exist at all, it depends if the banks actually has it or not.

True enough!

Cel phones can be tracked, even some of the newer cars in the states and I assume Canadastan have 'black boxes' in them as well too.

The difference is you can't drop or lose it like a card.

haha, me too! I like to pay with cash rather than swiping a card instead. I find paying by cash helps me keep in mind how much money am I really spending. With a card, you don't actually see your money leaving you, so it's a mental thing that gets people to spend more. It's harder to see money as a tangible thing, but represented in a simple card where you cannot see your account balance deplete the more you spend. They're smart, whoever invented and promoted the credit card =p

Yo Omar! Cash does make you feel more like you're actually paying, though because of that, it's easier to feel the impact of your account being drained. I'm glad I didn't buy the X-box 360 with cash. Take care, man in the snow.

i heard about the chip too. supposedly there will be no more cash or anything. everything will be started out as a card that hold all your information (drivers license, bank account, criminal records, etc) then they will convert it to a chip once everyone becomes dependent on the card. this seems like a great way to become a dictatorship as they can just destroy anyone that opposes by turning off their chip/card leaving them helpless in a new society of zero privacy, and full government control. religious people say that it is the mark of the beast aka 666.
