Journal Entry: Fri Jul 2, 2010, 9:01 AM
Hello everyone,

Just thought i should mention that if you have been watching me for a while you might have noticed a big drop off in the amount of journals where I actual chime in on certain subjects and give my 2 cents.

The main reason for this is lack of time. I definitely have views on many of the things that are taking place and I have received more than a few notes from old fans prompting me to speak on some hot topics or issues. What i tell them is that while I do enjoy having debates and an open forum to speak which dA has afforded me, it takes an incredible amount of time to read each post and respond and then re-respond.

I want to make sure that i answer each challenge and question properly and effectively and in doing so take a lot of time. I thoroughly enjoy reading all your comments and i learn a great deal of things and am alerted to new ideas and subjects that I haven't been introduced to as well.

The other reason is that being a part of UDON, I feel I have no right to sound off on my own views in a very loud and public fashion as it might be seen that they are endorsing me which is not the case necessarily. The fact is that I don't share many viewpoints with many of my co-workers yet they aren't sticking points for me against them. However I can't expect them to tow my line of thinking, and i feel i'm doing that when I take a strong stance on anything publicly.

Nonetheless I don't want some of my fans who are used to my more colourful journal posts to be disheartened. I haven't compromised my beliefs or morals one iota, and generally this industry leaves you alone if you keep quiet. For me that plays better into my own plans and goals.

So I will say if you have any question of me, on Islam or anything, feel free to note me and i will do my best to respond you promptly.

Otherwise sit back and enjoy the pretty pictures and ignore my babble-box lol.

I really do thank you guys and I hope I have been of some use to you.

Asalaamu Alaikum = Peace be upon you!

Well, I looked forward to those entries, but it's understandable why you can't continue with them.

Still, despite this, you're an artist I respect for being more than just being a great artist. You set an example, I can only hope most people will take their cues from by interacting with you.

Everyone have our own lives, sometimes i can draw more and sometimes less, now i imagine someone like you, who works a lot, take a time for draw for yourself must be hard. But i glad you have this consideration for us.

Take your time, when you have time, your drawings will be appreciated.

I feel a bit naive for not realizing this earlier. I guess the people who watch you would know better, but anyone else might take your comments as Udon endorsement, like you said. I like hearing your opinions because though because you always sound so rooted in what you believe in, and I don't know a lot of people who can stand up for their beliefs like that.

Hmmm you know Omar, I felt that sometimes having a certain amount of popularity and fame comes with a heavy responsibility, I mean a really heavy one. Sounds cliche (duh) but this year I've been watching few friends(at around 20 something) who used to be well received by the public eye, people demanding for more surprises and updates from them. They truly appreciate the supporters, but when they can't deal with the fame properly, they turned themselves normal back. It's like whoooshh, in a blink of an eye. :o Their names faded from the mind of society, nobody ever remember them... What's worse is they no longer have the passion for it anymore...

I do hope that it's not "anymore", but that kinda saddens me. :( Does that mean fame can be a curse if you're at the wrong age? Should a person know what to plan, what to voice out, when it's time to launch a project, who to befriend with, how to solve issues efficiently before they can acquire fame?

..... oh wait.. is this an off-topic?

That in itself is a good topic to speak on, what to say and not to say.

Generally if you take it seriously and are concerned about your reputation you have to watch what you say. Like I personally do not draw anything nude and when I found certain major artists did that i looked up to it changed my opinion of them.

If you have to resort to cheap tactics like that to sell... well, you are what you draw I guess.

Hm, maybe you just need a place that has nothing to do with UDON to voice your opinion... but then again, a bulk of people know you because of UDON so it may be impossible to escape the association at the time being.

Anyway, at least you're taking the time to read and respond to the notices you get on here. I'd expect you to be busy in your line of work, so I'm cutting you some slack XD.

This some how makes me think.
Do you know of Skeptoid? (Brian Dunning)
He does a ton of interesting podcasts on nearly everything. A lot of them really get you thinking. Quite enlightening.
You can either read them or listen to them, so you could just listen to it while you're doing what ever.
