What's the Haps...

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 5, 2012, 9:07 PM
Time and the lack thereof:

Now normally at this point I usually say that I have not been around and for the most part have been on BlogTV, although this time it's different:

The deal is now that I am teaching three classes at the college and all told that sums up to around 50 - 60 students. I am not a person who likes to be social at all times, rather I prefer to have people when and where I want them to be in my life and no other place. Sounds a bit odd, but I am a person who needs his space and at times I almost get a clausterphobic type of feeling when i don't get my space.

So it goes without saying that if I am trying to  take care of my classes that I often time do not have time to invest in my usual outlets. When it's a high stress situation I drop off all communication and focus on what I need to get done. Once those things are taken care of, my family comes next and then my health.

That said I don't want people to feel that i have dissappeared, but do understand that I have to keep things together to put food on the table.

As for 5C:

Most of my bloggers will know that I have taken 5C down and made it more underground for the time being as I write up how I want it to go. The handful of people who have seen will agree it is nothing like what i did in the Vent book, and that i have officially burried that idea and started fresh with similar / same characters.

I don't want it to become a project I hype and keep putting off, so as a result I have taken it down barring one or two images to give you a taste of the new flavour.

Anything past that I will make known when it's ready. For now I have no intent to publish it and I am planning to make a doujinshi so that the idea can never be corrupted by editors or money. I want this to be a piece of art that is not bound by 22 page chapters and panels, and let it flow as it will. If there's swearing, there will be swearing, if there are issues that are uncomfortable, there will be those too, if there is slapstick humour that will occur as well.

If only 10 people read I will be fine with that. I have a bit of fame for working on SF stuff but I don't want to sell my idea out for more. This book will be for my fans/friends.

I want it to happen, but I must feed my family first with work that pays and thats just the end of it.

So I will be putting together some very special prints that will be sold along with the book at conventions. The idea is that they will be a simple 8 x 11 print that will be a theme for each show, so far I have this:

Polymanga in Switzerland : Gothic
PAX Boston : Gamers (I won't be attending, but the print will be available+signed)
Calgary Expo: Winter
SDCC: Swimsuit
Toronto: Summer

I am thinking it will be limited to 50 prints per show to make it rare.

I will be working on the prints in the coming weeks, and I will have a poll perhaps for the two SF characters I will do alts for this year.

If you haven't got yours yet, get it while it's cheap!
If you live in Canada or the States go here to order yours:

I might open up for  online commissions in late April after I come back from Calgary. Right now I am too busy and occupied with the forwarding fo the book Girl 7 to make it happen.

Art for sale:

About 10 of the Girl7 book images have already been sold, so if you would like to have one now is the time. Also I have a goodly amount of Ibuki pages as well, so just let me know. SOme pages are more affordable than others and it is actually drawn on a page!

I really do thank you guys and I hope I have been of some use to you.

Asalaamu Alaikum = Peace be upon you!

5C has changed a lot and I am eager to see what you do with it based on what has been shown on BlogTV. I am looking forward to the time when we can read more.

As for G7 I am eagerly awaiting that as well, you tirelessly put so many hours into it, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching you make those pieces.

Great to see that you're still around, and I love the idea you have for 5C right now. Good luck with teaching all of those students. That's quite a hefty work schedule :noes:

Good luck in life. Have fun with everything that you are doing...well...try to have fun with everything you do. The hard stuff in life comes before the good/great stuff. =3 that was something my dad always told me. Do your best and hope to see you at the convention if I go to one~ Take cares for now. =3

Family always comes first, especially when you have kids. Just knowing that everything is going well is enough. =)

I totally understand Omar... I've been really busy with work related stuff and taking care of my family. I have to set aside a lot of art projects I want to do and adjust my time to get what I can draw done in a different manner. Things can get stressful, so I know what you mean as to you needing your space... and like you, I have to make sure my wife and two kids (and another on the way) are fed.

I know I'm not on your blogTV channel as much as I would like to be, but I'll still be around to see your art whenever you post or publish it.

Good luck to ya! :aww:

I'm the same way. I'm not much of a people person either. When I get really stressed out I tend to go camping for a long period.

I agree with BT. I can't wait to see those drawings in person. Looks like it might be a no go for calgary. I'm still pushing to get everything in order sos I can make the drive.

Thank you for updating.
I totally understand, I've been very busy as well and have not had any time to attend your show as often as I would like. 5C will be amazing and I've seen the work and major thought that you are putting into it, you can work on it as long you want. I cant attend the con events due to me living way down in Texas, I wish I could get one of those G7 bundles :\ I will still be ordering through Amazon though.

we understand omar, try not to stress yourself out on that.Do the best you can to teach them and go with it. no body is perfect and we all at some point will make mistakes. teaching is a skill that takes time to hone like any other thing. knowing how to use it is always the fun part when you can do it effectively; I'd always get annoyed when I can't teach correctly but I get through it, the best I can. so Your not alone.

after all your still learning no matter what you do. your always a student no matter what.

also for 5c I can't wait for you to finish it, I wanna see what you come up with and I wanna cheer you on. I hope what you accomplish brings peace to you omar.

As for G7, if I do get to go to SDCC this year(and I will) I hope to meet you once again and your fellow Udon buddies. it always a pleasure to meet you guys again. hopefully I canz take ya photo (again)and also buy some stuff from you guys again.(swimsuit edition here I come) nah but anyways man I hope you have a pleasant day. and peace.

P.S. if you do commissions in april I'm up for it. I'd already have a few ideas that I'd have in mind. so be ready for them.

Bah! be cool man, we know you love teaching (sometimes) don't stress to much like BT said, is not good for your health, and about 5C sound very cool, and how can censor life? 5C is a different thing like you said is based on "daily situations" we be will waiting for that doujinshi! heh.

Keep it classic, dude!

Nah its cool man. I think your peeps know that you are focusing on teaching and we're fine with that! So go ahead and do your thang!

And I'm still happy about the new 5C! I'll be waiting for it, hopefully I'll be one of those few to get a copy!

But diff prints for diff shows sounds like an awesome idea, and only 50! Geez who ever gets those are lucky.

Anyways keep up the great work Omar; Dont stress yourself to much man.

I'm actually quite glad to hear it won't be anything like in the Vent book to be honest, no offense. I'd love to see what it turns into though.

It's also unfortunate I work full time so I'm never able to catch the blogtv casts when they happen. Or very rarely I can pop in for only a few minutes.
