What would be interesting is a miniseries with Chun Li, Guile, Cammy and no one else in the good side fighting Shadaloo, with some police/militar theme going on. The first issue of SFLegends: Chun Li was good because of that, but that series was then derailed by random characters.
Of the options listed, I’d like to see Makoto, but only as long as she wasn’t a joke character.
I'm really, reallly tempted to say Dan. But the story has to be great. He already has had brilliant and deep moments in the Legends Series, like the end of his fight with Sakura, and of course, the death of his father.
His gags are getting a bit played out, too. Yes, he gets beat up by everyone - we've known this for years. His usual slapstick won't be able to carry four issues unless it's played out masterfully.
If you have a phenomenal writer lined up, do it. Bring Sakura back as a side role.
Else, think of someone who hasn't been expored much, and run with them.
Suggestions: AKUMA, CAMMY.
Also, if I had the magic wand to grant UDON the ability to be able to, there should be an SNK Legends (Athena, Terry, Mai), or perhaps a Marvel vs Capcom 3 crossover comic in time for the game.
Honestly, Dan. He has enough potential in his back story to open up, as well as explaining all his encounters with sagat - which also leads to better stories for sagat. Juri is too new and two-dimensional, and just doing another one for some characters isn't a great idea, imo. And for makoto, i think she needs more buildup THROUGH other characters before she can truly stand on her own for a series.
Though, there are some characters id like to see who aren't on this poll, such as Mika or a wrestler group series (Zangief, Mika, Fuerte, like a love triangle lol), or an expansion on the Final Fight stuff covered in the Super Turbo series. Or maybe give Alex his own series. Hell yeah.
I'd settle for Makoto, with Juri in second & Ibuki in third!
Makoto spends most of the entire 4 part miniseries entirely barefoot in her karate gi, finding this young British exchange student, (who suprisingly has a crush on Ibuki & kinda becomes friends after he gives her a foot massage in her ninja outfit) for teasing her huge feet and has gone on a light-hearted chase to catch up on the young man to teach him a lesson or something like that!
How about Guile? He has a deep story, and it would be nice to know what happened to Charlie, is he dead or what? We've already seen Ibuki and Sakura books, and Makoto and Dan were all over those books. And Juri has a freakin movie. It would be nice to see someone else get a chance. Guile has real emotion and pain, so much about his story is untold. But then you would have to learn how to draw him.... to much work huh? Probably be better to stick with what you know. Juri it is.
But the Joker did get his own comic (a mini-series, at least). Joker's Asylum was a series of comics that featuring the Joker, Two-Face, Killer Croc, and other Arkham inmates as the main characters in various stories.
It is possible to write a compelling story from a villain's perspective, although the story structure is significantly different. Villains tend to be proactive with certain goals in mind instead of reacting to a problem that upsets the status quo. Stories tend to be darker because villains deal with seedier people and will commit murder and other various crimes. And, of course, ultimately the villain will typically fail to reach their goal due to the interference of a hero.
Personally, I tend to find the SF: Legends stories tend to be more upbeat and humorous, so I personally don't think Juri is a good fit. However, it really depends on how the writer decides to shape the story around her. They might do a lighter take on Juri's personality, keeping it more in line with previous SF: Legend books. I'll at the very least keep an open mind until I see what the first issue is like.
a girls going to win this poll for fanservice reasons alone, but Dan deserves a legends book I think, he is the street fighter universes original underdog after all. Also I could never see him getting his own book but more sidestorys with rufus would be lol, he's just such a weird guy how he got that hot gf of his, not to mention everything bad that happens to him he blames on ken masters xD
Shame there wasn't more diversity in the poll. I voted for Sakura only because I feel like Rival Schools got a raw deal. I loved the comic so much, I still have issues 1 & 2, but used the PRINT SCREEN button to screen cap all of issues 3 and 4 from the website. Then I cropped them all to page size. And because a whole page wouldn't fit on screen, each page had to be saved as 2 files which then had to be over layed together to fit JUST RIGHT into a full page. That's about 70 pages at about 5 minutes a page. Yeah ... I loved Rival Schools. If you guys ever put out the full series in print, I'll gladly buy it to have a hard copy (I don't like having files of comics).
I would have loved to have a Cammy, Sean, Final Fight (SF/FF characters only), Ryu (Tale of the first Street Fighter Tournament where he beat Sagat), Street Fighter 2010 (I just found out that this game existed on NES and that Ken is the main character), Yun and Jun, or a Fei Long story.
