I'm more of a fighting game fan, and there were MANY (and I say MANY) fighting games back in the 90s, and 2000, that aren't here today. I miss those days.

My dream is being a part of a video game company, so I voted for "making my own game".

I like it all but I prefer games with good plot. Graphics are negligible in my decision on whether or not a game is good. (but they cant hurt. :P)

BTW why do you ask?

And the new SF4 sux on XBox360 controllers! So I guess I would say I prefer any game with decent controlls. A game is no fun when ur dude wont do what you want it to do even though you hit the buttons right...

I like games that I can actually play, aka PC games. I don't want to have to buy an xbox or wii or whatever to play something. I've never owned one or played on one, not in my entire life. So, things like Sid Meyer's Civilisation are the best.

ya old school was super awesome because ..well I think maybe because we were KIDS...just like thundercats was awesome..at the time...ever watch an old episode lately? cheese much?

games took a dive for a bit but have recently enjoyed an onslaught of quality imo
it seems the devs are getting over the graphics thing and realizing without GAME-PLAY ppl won't PLAY-GAME...<;pretty much sums up my opinion of videogames actually

that being said I'm too busy lately to play much other than plug n play games on breaks...pick it up ..play it...drop it ..back to work...

never played hopskotch...more of a kings court kid ...or dodgeball aka murderball

If a game manages to really engross you in, then it doesn't matter if it's new or old. I think Bioshock proved that, with engaging story, amazing art and sound, and great gameplay.

I like games that make you forget their flaws, make you forget that you're playing a game and leave you with long-lasting impression.

Some games that do exactly that: Max Payne 1/2, Silent Hill 1/2, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, Bioshock, Diablo 1/2, Devil May Cry 3.

I'll play pretty much anything, having been part of the pong/space invaders generation (yes I still remember times when there was no such thing as electronic entertainment of the sort.)

These days, it comes down to time. I don't have time for MMORPGs; I just can't spend the thousands and thousands of minutes wasting my brain and time on attempting to get the next hot item. If I can't play for five minutes without the ability to save practically anywhere, it's a waste of my time.

I love the shooters, Call of Duty series in particular. I'm not a great player so stuff like Operation Flashpoint are out. Left 4 Dead is a nice twist. But the new server laddering.... gawd, SUCH a waste of time, really. I'd rather hang out with my kids.

I love the horror genre; Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Silent Hill (the original).

I abso-fricken-lutely hate specific types of sims. Flight simulators, driving games (except for the GT series, when I could afford both the time and money), Sims, and builders (Civilization and such). I played the grand daddy of them all, Populous.

RTS is boring to me: click, click, click.

Mystery and Puzzle games are always great, but for me, if the graphics adds nothing to the story, it takes away from the plot and is completely useless.

Sports games... not for me. I played Blitz for the freakish crazy fun factor, but that's as far as I go. Well, the Wii games are fun though. Well, and the old International VolleyBall, International Track and Field, LOL.

My "recent" favourites include Okami for the Wii, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion for the PC (OMG the modding community simply rocks that game into the ground), Guitar Hero: World Tour for obvious reasons.

Next Purchase will probably be Call of Duty 5: World at War, although I hear multiplayer is a real bitch.

I grew up on say characters like Mario, Link, Kirby, and Sonic when they were in 2D/Sprites. I found it interesting that this poll came up. I aspire to become a video game designer, but don't have the funds for atm (but I won't go on with that story lol). Nonetheless I love video games that have a nostaligic feel. However I also like games that have deep, intriguing storylines like the Tales series, or Final Fantasy. I appeal for anything fun that can make me escape the monotones of everyday life. I don't care much for graphics nowadays as everything now is ruled by computer designed engines, which often results in weak stories as well. I think my fav system had to be the SNES, since it's the golden era of RPG's which were not only beautiful in graphics (at the time) but had deep stories. So I guess now it's easy to see what I chose.

I voted the old ones, though actually there are some GREAT games out there now, the thing is... there used to be less people making games before, so they were more experienced, they didn't have to compete so much in so tight schedules, they could really do whatever they wished (inside the technologies limitations and all) and they carried out they're development to the highest standards just to be happy with themselves... now it's just like hollywood... either you do something great that will take a lot of time and probably won't have too much sucess, or you end up doing something half way done just so you can earn a living doing games...

or you could be part of something like kojima productions xD

soooooo to sum up

the percentage of good games in theese times is radically lower than before, but there are some great new games still... none of them beat good ol' grim fandango or monkey island, though ;)

xDD I chose "mind games" because this question was definitely one to think about. x3 I do enjoy mind games, though. I love the old games. I play newer ones but not too many that I see look even remotely interesting. *shrug* I DO wish I could help make games (concept art maybe? or some background information for a story-line? xD; ). I LOVE board games. GO CHESS~ x3 I loooovvee chess. I also LOVE the game OUTSIDE. That's the best. You know...when you go outside and actually play. x3

Sadly, I don't play a lot of inside games anymore. I usually sit at the computer and play tetris all day trying to defeat my own score of 270k. xDD

And I am also a fan of mind games,

Old school elitists piss me off.

Games seem to be on a decline because there are more shitty developers now than ever that just want to make a quick buck. Graphics sell to the masses. However, that doesn't mean good games don't exist anymore.

Great new games being released regardless of the graphics factor still exist(Mass Effect, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge etc.) and I think people who obsess over "old" games just aren't digging hard enough or are too quick to pass judgment simply because something looks "nice"

There are sooooo many cool games! Just about every genre has a game that is worth playing. The old classics will always be fun to play but if you don't like any of the new games there is something wrong with you. Many of the games developers are making these days don't live up to the hype but who cares, really?

Street Fighter 4 is a perfect example of what can happen when nice graphics and "classic" game play come together. What's not to like?

I really don't play console games anymore really unless it's something I've been expected would be made, released, etc.

I do play Command & Conquer 3 on my computer alot, though, and play online against others. So technically, I do still play, just not the console systems and games.

I like the older ones, the gameplay was better when the graphics weren't the priority.

I like the old games or the old style games like Ar Tonelico as they tend to focus more on the storyline and gameplay rather than making it look super perfect graphics wise

I prefer the oldies, because they focus on the fun factor as opposed to the wow factor. Still, there are some modern games I do enjoy, because they capture that fun factor. Can't explain it any better than that.

I picked oldschool gamer, but there are some modern games I like. Portal was awesome, I just started playing TF2 recently and that's pretty good. I also play indy games, which are more like old school games because they're less polished, have average graphics and focus on interesting or strange game play.

I like games with a good gameplay, original Ideas, but the old stuff is old, many older games are considered good simply because they're old. Now I have games like TF2, Portal, World of Goo, or Saints Row 2 which are great not because they look neat, but because they have an awesome gameplay.

Gameplay or Graphics can be substituted when either is exceptional. Otherwise, I'll play something that's just fun. Although these days we tend to find most games are trying to show off some brand new graphics engine, rather than trying to give people a good play.

There are still some actual good games being made, and I like some games that have intuitive controls that make the best of the gameplay, Make the game challenging but it shouldn't be impossible for the majority of the people who play it.

I would have voted card games D: but you don't seem to have those on the list, unless that's under board or mind games XD.

I think the load of crap that comes out now makes the load of new inventive games look even better so I like it the way it is because that means less $60.00 games for me to buy XD
